Inspirational Teachers Create Heroes!

Teaching is a noble profession that allows a person to spread knowledge, share wisdom and help build character. Teachers contribute greatly in making youngsters emotionally strong, confident, capable and responsible adults. They teach students with great care and patience; their hard work must be recognised by the society especially now when all schools are locked down and students are attending classes virtually. Teachers have gone out of their ways, beyond their comfort zones to deliver the same care and understanding. I have been watching my children attend school online and I read all messages that are shared by their teachers. Each one showing not just the work that they do but also the care and nurturing with which they deliver. I felt pure gratitude for them; it’s not easy managing over 50 children remotely, getting them involved in the learning process and attempting their assignments as well as assessments. Mind you these are a bunch of young energetic children stuck at home for over six months-making the teacher’s job quite challenging!

The Pandemic has caught the mankind unawares in 2020 and has put all of us into a catch 22 situation. Life has adapted itself into the new ‘Normal’ from now on. But has anything of this kind ever stopped anyone or any progress? This is just the temporary phase; human intelligence and human spirit are so powerful that they know the way forward.  This pause could possibly result in better things to unfold in the future. People will work their way to improve their personal lives and their careers; thus setting new limits for themselves. Going beyond what they felt impossible; it could be as a matter of fact the best time to learn, relearn, unlearn and the greatest need of the hour to e- learn!

Teachers in these times have gone beyond their duties- learning and adapting to the ‘New Normal’ way of teaching. Up skilling themselves with technology and innovating to reach out to their students with their wisdom, dedication, and kindness. With their perseverance they have managed to lead their students to the right path; inspiring them to deal with situations no matter what they are! This is the quality that human beings need to develop. Accepting things and moving on, not finding excuses but dealing with them.

My children studying at Apeejay School have their exams being conducted online, one message from my sixth grader’s Hindi Teacher Dr. Anju Sharma caught my attention. It was so motivating and encouraging that I had to share it with others as it reiterates the efforts that our teachers have been putting in. I am a strong believer of the fact that training and teaching are not professions or departments but they are mindsets. These teachers have been not only inculcating in their students the growth mindset but also demonstrating the same. Leading by example and leading how!

This is the message shared by Dr. Anju Sharma

Time management is also important अपने  limited Time ko wisely use करें।

Good luck and All the very best to all of you!

The diligence with which she had written the message in Devanagri on her mobile phone made me appreciative of that as well. I don’t know how much the students were motivated by Dr. Sharma’s message but I have become her fan! I remember meeting her a couple of years ago during a PTM while she was teaching my elder one. We met in her class and a nice story book cupboard caught my attention. I asked her about it and she said that it was the class library. Each student brought a couple of story books and a decent collection was created. Students could borrow the books for reading. I felt it was an impactful exercise building reading habits in students and also developing the qualities of sharing. With her permission, I took a picture of that beautiful library. I wanted to write about it but then missed it as we get into our routines and some things go into the back burner. Her message made me revisit that moment almost 3 years ago and here I am writing not only about the class library but another aspect of the teacher’s persona. Sometimes procrastination isn’t as bad!

Dr. Sharma highlights the resilience of our teachers. This is a gratitude post for not only her but all the teachers! We salute them and are grateful to them from the bottom of our hearts. Teachers truly make this world beautiful!
